A Feel-Good Film Giveaway For “Finding Your Feet”

life after 50, baby boomer women, boomer women

Last evening, I watched a screener of the romantic comedy Finding Your Feet. I agree with OK! Magazine when they say it’s “The Feel-Good Film OF THE YEAR!” It was just what I needed after a long day in New York City. I grabbed a cup of chamomile tea and enjoyed this British chick-flick.

Finding Your FeetThe film is about a post 50, likely post 60 or 70 female named Sandra, formerly “Lady Abbott,” who gets a new lease on life – and love – after she discovers her husband Mike is having an affair with her best friend.

Since it’s Independence Day this week and Sandra finds her independence after 40 years of marriage, I thought it would be a great time to host a giveaway for Finding Your Feet. Special thanks to Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for providing the DVD. (Note: Be sure to read below and enter the Rafflecopter Giveaway for the DVD. Open to USA residents only.)

Finding Your Feet

Dancing brings Sandra a new lease on life.

A Sparkling Cast of Mature Characters
The cast features some familiar mature actors. Academy Award nominee Imelda Staunton (Best Actress, Vera Drake, 2005) gives a winning lead performance as Sandra. Her sparkling supporting cast includes Timothy Spall (Mr. Turner), Celia Imrie (The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel), David Hayman (TV’s “Taboo”), John Sessions (Florence Foster Jenkins), Josie Lawrence (Enchanted April), and Joanna Lumley (TV’s “Absolutely Fabulous”).  According to the press release, “this crowd-pleasing comedy won the Audience Award at the 2018 Palm Springs International Film Festival.”

Finding Your Feet

Sandra goes to live with her estranged, older sister Bif.

A Heartwarming Tale
I warmed to Sandra, who finds refuge in London with her estranged, older sister Bif, played by Imrie. The two are very different – Sandra is “a fish out of water” next to her outspoken, serial dating, free-spirited sibling.” But Sandra needs the extra push at the moment, and she reluctantly lets Bif bring her along to a community dance class, where she begins “finding her feet.”

Findng Your Feet

Sandra meets Charlie at dance class.

When Sandra meets Charlie, it starts to reignite her romantic side. As Bif says, “This could be the best thing that ever happened to you. You can step out of Mike’s shadow.”  And so she does. I won’t say more, you’ll have to find out the rest of the story for yourself.

  1. In American President it was so refreshing to see the president support his girlfriend and her views even if it made it challenging for him politically. It all worked out well in the end where good overcame evil. Hope it happens in real life for evil is so predominant in DC today.

  2. I think Mama Mia is my favorite chick flick; just love the music.

P.S. i saw this movie flying to Rome recently and loved it. I would love to give it to my sisters to see.

    • Kay, glad you were able to watch it on the flight. Mamma Mia is a favorite of mine too. Can’t wait for the next sequel this summer.

  3. Dirty Dancing is our fav around here. I also loooooveee Titanic. I was 11 when it first came out and i fell in love.

  4. My favorite chick flick movie is Love Actually! I love how divided the Internet is on it and it is so fun to see all the different celebrities and compare to where they are today!

  5. One of my very favorite movies is “P.S. I Love You.” I hesitate to label it a chick flick, and I don’t think that it really fits within that genre. But I ~do~ want to give it a shout-out, and to recommend it very highly!

  6. I think it will live on forever! I miss Patrick Swayze 🙁 Like a lot of wonderful people he was taken from us way to soon.
